Path to the America250! Historical Marker at Don Biddle Park

The story of the America250! Historical Marker in Don Biddle Park was a true multi‑chapter and community effort—one that reflects the dedication of our members, our partners, and the City of Dublin as we prepare to commemorate 250 years since the founding of the United States.

Building the Partnership

The project began with the formation of a chapter committee and early conversations with the Mt. Diablo Chapter and other nearby DAR chapters. From the start, the goal was clear: create a meaningful, permanent tribute honoring the veterans who served and the patriots who shaped our nation’s history.

Finding the Perfect Boulder

One of the most memorable phases of the project was the search for the right boulder—large enough to anchor a bronze plaque, visually fitting for the Veterans’ Memorial area of Don Biddle Park, and able to withstand the elements for generations. After many attempts and site visits, the perfect stone was finally located and secured.

A Week‑Long Installation Effort

Installing the boulder and marker was a week‑long endeavor involving careful coordination and hands‑on work:

SiteOne Landscape Supply generously donated and delivered the boulder.
Ty Miller dug and prepared the site to ensure a stable foundation.
E Clampus Vitus, Joaquin Murrieta Chapter 13 received the boulder upon delivery, positioned and secured it, surfaced the stone, and attached the bronze plaque with expert precision.
Shaun Chilkotowsky, the City of Dublin Parks Department point person, provided essential support throughout the process.
Their combined efforts transformed a vision into a lasting landmark.

A Ceremony Honoring Service and History

The dedication ceremony brought together chapter members, community partners, and local leaders. Regent Debbie Vanderbroek of the Mt. Diablo Chapter and Jill Zollinger of the Jose Maria Amador Chapter jointly led the program.

Mayor Sherry Hu delivered the City of Dublin Proclamation, expressing appreciation for DAR’s ongoing role in the civic life of the city and honoring veterans and patriots.

BSA Troops 904, 2904, and 2998 contributed to the patriotic spirit of the event as the Color Guard.

Other notable guests included Pleasanton Councilmembers Jeff Nibert and Craig Eicher, Mrs. Adele Lancaster (NSDAR Reporter General), Mrs. Sharon Maas (CSSDAR Honorary State Regent,) and Mrs. Christine McMahon (CSSDAR State Regent Elect) along with chapter and community members whose presence underscored the significance of the moment.

A Lasting Tribute for America250

The America250! Historical Marker now stands proudly among the veterans’ memorials at Don Biddle Park—a testament to service, remembrance, and the enduring values that shaped our nation. This project reflects the very best of what can be accomplished when chapters, community partners, and civic leaders work together with purpose.
